About Us

What We Do

Welcome to our men’s mental health peer support organisation, dedicated to promoting wellness through community and shared experiences. Our peer support groups are designed for men like you, offering a space where those with similar backgrounds can connect, support each other, and hold one another accountable.

When you join our men’s mental health support groups, you’ll be greeted with a smile, a handshake, and a comforting brew to help ease any nerves or anxiety. Our welcoming environment is designed to make you feel at home from the moment you arrive.

In addition to our peer support groups, we facilitate engaging activities such as walking football, boules, and group walks and more. Participating in these activities not only boosts your physical health but also enhances your mental well-being. These sessions provide a much-needed respite and help you feel refreshed, connected, and supported by a community that understands your journey.

Why do we do this?

We do this so that you have a place to go when you need support, we do this so you can feel what society doesn’t allow you to, we do this so you are no longer alone.

What are we all about?

It’s always been a bit of a joke about men. That even if they are lost they won’t stop and ask for Directions. As funny as the joke may be there is a serious side to it.

Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 40. Why is that? Because men don’t ask for help when they need it.

They suffer in silence. They feel like they should be able to cope with anything and that feeling stressed/depressed or anxious is a sign of weakness.

We want this to end, we want men to feel able to ask for help but not only that we want them to know where to go to get help when they need it. We want to provide a place for men to turn and ask for help. We want to support men who are :-

Directions For Men provides groups and activities where men can meet other men talk about issues affecting them and receive support, a listening ear and some guidance.

Whatever you are going through, our groups and activities are places where you can meet other men and talk about issues affecting you. You will also receive support, a listening ear and some guidance based on others experiences.

Our Mission, Vision and Values

Our Mission

To provide places where men can come and talk about the problems they’re facing and learn from the experiences of other men who may have been through something similar.

Our Vision

We want to improve men’s lives by creating spaces where men can talk openly about problems they are facing and how they are feeling without fear of judgement or ridicule. We want men to feel connected and suported.

Our Values

Honesty: We hold honest conversations with men to support them in exploring their emotions and identifying the problems they have in their life. We are honest with ourselves and the people around us.

Compassion: We listen with compassion and empathy knowing that the problem each man is talking about is their biggest and most important problem.

Commitment: We are committed to providing credible peer support groups, that fit seamlessly into local support systems and enhance the offer to local men. We have enlisted the support of a board with a wide variety of experience who can support us in our aims and our committed to our values and our vision.

Integrity: Everything we do is with integrity. We don’t get involved in criticising other services or organisations, we are honest when we make mistakes and take our duty seriously to ensure all men have all the options for treatment and support presented to them.

Collaboration: We know we don’t have all the answers and will not meet the needs of all men, that’s why we spend a huge amount of time forging relationships with other organisations and working closely with them.

Anti-discriminatory: We do not tolerate discrimination in any form whether it is based on age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation
